Time for un-rooting.
After 2 years rooted in California to birth our baby and get to know this whole parent thing, it's time. Time to go again.
For nearly 10 years, we, independently have been travelers. Some adventure seeking, sure. In our early 20's, of course that was the goal. Ash (the American) went to Europe first, fresh out of culinary school to intern in restaurants. Christoph (The Swiss) went to New Zealand as a mechanical engineer. Neither ever quite came home. Playful journeys turned into traveling for work- Chris was working on sail boats in the southern hemisphere, creating a soulful bond with Patagonia and Antarctica. Ashley stuck close to Asia and southern Europe/north Africa before committing to a European family as their private traveling chef. It was in October of 2011, in Boston Massachusetts, that it all changed. Ashley had re-boarded the yacht of the family she was working for, and the captain had hired a new engineer. His name was Christoph.
We stopped traveling and working as sojourners in July of 2013 when we decided to build our life together. We picked up our very special gift from Indonesia, before heading to California to experience being grounded in one place. We rooted for the first time in many years and welcomed our Bali baby in March of 2014. Now it is time again, this time as a tri-pod, to be free and without ROOTS.
